Thank you for participating in the Autism Society of Greater Akron’s 8th Annual Autism 5k Run and Walk. This is our premier fundraising and autism awareness event and brings us together as a community to support those living the autism journey.

- Register for Fun Walk: No Fee (donations appreciated - $50 for official event t-shirt)
SATURDAY, JUNE 16 • FIRESTONE STADIUM
|7:30 a.m.||Event Opens ~ Same day registration available.|
|Everyone must register, sign a waiver, and wear a bib - it serves as your entry to all activities|
|Fee Increases: $40 Fee for 5k / $20 Students & Person with ASD|
|8:45 a.m.||5k Runners and Walkers Line Up on Firestone Parkway|

NOTE: NO Parking on Firestone Parkway between Wilbeth Road and Firestone Blvd. This road will be closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. to accommodate walkers entering the event.

Bridgestone Americas Parking Garage: Corner of Main Street & Firestone Blvd
Richard’s Fence Parking Lot: Intersection of Firestone Parkway and Firestone Blvd
Street Parking Available

~~~~~ COURSE ~~~~~
5K Run & Walk:
Course begins on Wilbeth Rd at Hackberry St. Head west on Wilbeth Rd and then cut left on Wilbeth Trailhead Towpath. After approximately a mile on the towpath, u-turn at the 277 overpass at Ley Dr. Return north on the towpath and then exit right onto Wilbeth Rd. Finish on Firestone Pkwy at Firestone Stadium.
1 Mile Fun Walk:
Course begins on Wilbeth Rd at Hackberry St. Head west for approximately a half mile until course marshals signal a u-turn. Head back east on Wilbeth Rd and finish on Firestone Pkwy at Firestone Stadium.
~~~~~ SAFETY ~~~~~
SAFETY: We’ll use the airport script to ask everyone to help us with safety by keeping your eyes open for any suspicious people or packages. If you are concerned about something, please report it to the ASGA tent or call 9-1-1.
FIRST AID: A nurse will be stationed in the Visitor’s Dugout on the third baseline in the stadium. A first-aid kit, water and cool compresses will be available in the hut. Call 9-1-1 for more serious health concerns.
WEATHER AND HYDRATION: Saturday weather predictions are “84 degrees with a 20% chance of rain.” Be sure to stay hydrated. There will be a water station at the finish line and two water stations on the 5k course.
~~~~~ TEAM & INDIVIDUAL PACKET PICK UP ~~~~~
Pick up bibs and t-shirts (for FUN WALK, must have raised $50/team member to qualify):
• Friday, June 15 ~ 10am – 2pm at Firestone Stadium (on the softball field)
• Saturday, June 16 ~ 7:30am (on the softball field)
Packet Pick Up at Firestone Stadium - Teams may designate a person to pick up team bibs and shirts; however, there is NO team bundling this year so please plan to spend a few extra minutes if collecting items for multiple members. Team Captains please let members of your team know that you have picked up their items if that is your plan.
~~~~~ DONATIONS ~~~~~
Donations can be turned in at pre-registration on Friday from 10am-2pm at Firestone Stadium or at registration on Saturday beginning at 7:30am. Look for the “DONATION” tent! Write a check payable to the Autism Society of Greater Akron for any cash received. Each Participant should consider making a donation to themselves in support of their team!

Registrations and donations made after June 11 are subject to sizes and quantities available event day. Attendees will receive a voucher for shirt redemption. Please visit registration tent following Walk/Run to redeem voucher.
~~~~~ 5k Runner / Walker AWARDS ~~~~~
5k Runners - Awards for overall and fastest runners will be given by age and gender.
5k Walkers - Awards for overall and fastest runners will be given by age and gender. Please walk the entire distance (no running and walking). PLAY FAIR and if you are a walker, do NOT run and walk the course or sprint at the end. It is intended to be a walking competition. Thank you for your cooperation. See awards page HERE.
~~~~~ FUNDRAISING PRIZES ~~~~~
Top Fundraising Team - The Team that raises the most money will have the use of a RubberDucks Loge donated by the City of Akron at an upcoming Akron Rubberducks Game.
Grand Club - Teams raising $1,000 or more receive recognition event day along with year round recognition on our website as members of the GRAND CLUB. Members will have a seating section in the stadium. Please look for your Team Name. You will be recognized during the program.
Teams have until July 31, 2018 to fundraise. This year’s prize is an artistic memento from the 2018 walk.
